Work-based learners are extremely beneficial for an employer. Allowing students to participate in work-based learning helps businesses build a workforce pool and provide qualified candidates. It lowers training costs, teaches future employees soft skills, lowers recruitment costs and helps provide opportunities for youth in their communities.

Tennessee Valley Youth Apprenticeships

Tennessee Valley Youth Apprenticeships is a coalition of local education and business partners committed to providing collaborative training programs which develop well-educated students into highly skilled employees. Arconic Foundation Global Internship Program

The program is a blended model of in-person and online classes through Tooling U-SME with an option to intern in person with a local manufacturer. It consists of three paid components: 1) 12 half-days of Workforce Readiness Training; 2) 100 hours of hands-on manufacturing experience interning with a Blount County manufacturer OR an option to complete the hours online; and 3) three half-days of Follow-up, a Career Fair, and Graduation.
